Debatable is a live video round with a real person and a written decision. The other debate platforms each do a different version of that, and general AI assistants do something else entirely. These pages say what each one does, with the facts read from its own site, so you can pick the right one.
Six products that promise an opponent and a verdict, checked one by one. Who is live, who has stalled, and which to pick.

General-purpose AI is optimized for cooperative dialogue. Debatable is optimized for disagreement: one person on each side, live rounds against a clock, rebuttals that pressure-test your logic, and a written decision at the end. Same underlying models in some cases. Very different products.
Casual 1v1 rounds with one person for the motion and one against it. Six AI brains sit under the hood (Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Open Lab). Voice rounds use a real clock and server-side voice activity detection so the AI can be interrupted, then return a written reason for the decision.
Research a topic from scratch. Draft a blog post. Summarize a long PDF. Brainstorm broadly. General assistants are excellent at all of these. They are not built to hold the opposite side through a timed exchange and then hand the round to a separate judge.
Pick the tool that matches the job. If you want a general writing or research assistant, a general assistant fits. If you want an opponent that holds the other side and answers what you actually said, that is what Debatable is for.
